SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 20
Our Children's Time focused on apples and seeds. The apple seed is unique, a small thing with a large purpose. We are special too and have a large purpose in God's eyes. God uses small things to make big impacts. When we pray, tell others about Jesus, obey, choose to do what is right, God is working in our lives. He has created us for an extraordinary purpose. Let's practice obeying Him.
Pastor Marty used a Phillippians scripture to remind us to stand firm and refuse to compromise on Kingdom ways. As Christians, we stand firm in beliefs about Christ's conception, death and resurrection. We stand firm that Jesus is the Only Way to salvation, that we are saved by grace and all scripture is inspired by God. We are also united with other Christians who stand firm in the Holy Spirit's work in the Church and in us personally. These truths help us to stand firm in life and allow God to use us for a big impact!
Offering today was $1410 and attendance was 41.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 27
Our Sunday begins with 9am choir practice, 10am Sunday School for all ages and moves to 11am worship. Read ahead of time the scripture being taught, Philippians 2:1-11. Helpers for the service include Pat Lovell reading scripture. We can always use helpers with flowers for the church altar. There is a sign up sheet in the narthex for both.
CHANGE IN THE CALENDAR AND THE WEATHER- MARKET TIME COMING!
This prompts us to action for the upcoming events in mid November. Our enhanced Mission Market has a new descriptor. Last week the group agreed to call our event, ABUNDANT HARVEST MARKET, emphasizing the General Store theme that has captured our minds. As you remember, we began to imagine the General Store theme in July and here we are in late September. This enhanced name will help us visualize and create an environment like a general store. We would like to borrow from your basement or attic, items to use in the fellowship hall. Wooden crates, wooden ladders, shutters or bifold doors can all be used for display at the market. Will you loan yours? We will take care of the items, and mark not for sale. Please consider helping us in finding things to display. I know there are some old crates you've been saving! Contact Pat Lovell or Kim Foushee with your items and ideas. Items will be returned to you after our market.

Why not go ahead and begin some cooking?
Looking back to 2025, we had approximately 75+ soup/chilis to begin the Market weekend . Last year some popular soups were TACO, WHITE CHICKEN CHILI, TOMATO BISQUE, SHRIMP/ CORN CHOWDER.
After our recent 2026 September OCC fundraiser, we froze 30 pints of soup/chili . It's not too early to make a recipe and freeze, now. The soup/chili containers are boxed and on the countertop by the church kitchen sink. You can begin filling and freezing. If you place any soup/chilis in the freezer, please add to the list begun taped on top of the chest freezer. This way we can see how the inventory grows. This list is also a good indicator of what everyone else is cooking. We don't have a list of baked items, but we need breads, cakes, pies, pastries, cupcakes, candy, most anything and we sold a bunch!

New food category - frozen entree.
The frozen entree sign up list is in the narthex noting recipes to be prepared. Some recipes are specific and copies are behind the sign up sheet. Other recipes are personal to you. Recipes should fill a 9x13 dish. This amount of food will be divided between two foil pans, cooked and frozen. The foil pans are also in the kitchen ready for use. Take a look in the narthex and you'll have a better idea of entree processes. And yes, we need cooks. Have a favorite meatloaf , quiche, or chicken recipe? You can shine here. For all soups,chilis,entrees, please remember we need an ingredients card completed for our notebook. Please ask questions!

Of course, all homemade and handmade items are needed to fill the Market shelves. Let's get creating!
At our next HIM breakfast, we will discuss the entities to receive our Market funds. Be thinking of people we can serve with the funds our Market generates. HIM breakfast is October 18 at 9am.
HOMECOMING
Begin thinking of who you will invite for our Homecoming Service on October 11 at 11am.. Our pastor will be the speaker and there will be special music provided. Anyone interested in singing in a choir can come and practice on September 27 and October 4 at 9am. The selections will be familiar. There could also be other special music when you volunteer. Talk to Vicki Oakley and offer your help for this special service. And there will be a covered dish lunch after the service. You don't want to miss this!
