Happenings

SUNDAY APRIL 19

At Children’s Time last week, we heard about Elisha and the widow who made bread from her meager ingredients for him.  In her willingness to share with the prophet, she realized that her grain bowl and oil never emptied . God provided exactly what she needed when she needed it.  A great reminder for us!

Our pastor spoke about the Walk to Emmaus. He noted  that those who were touched by Jesus and His Story were quick to tell others.  Even if it meant walking 7 miles back to Jerusalem to do so. That’s our job too.  As we hear and accept, we should be anxious to share the Good News.

Our offering this week was $1641.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH PROTECTION PROGRAM

Each of us working with children and youth (nursery and up), should be trained for safety of our younger ones.  Please plan to attend at 9am on May 2 with Phyllis Woliver leading , to get this taken care of.  You never know if you may need to stand in for a volunteer who is absent unexpectedly or needs to leave unexpectedly.  It takes about an hour to complete this short and important course. If you can’t make it on May 2, please talk to Phyllis Woliver.  We need 2 trained volunteers each time children, youth, or nursery meets.  You can do this!

RETURN OF CASKET EMPTY BIBLE STUDY

Jean writes: The CASKET EMPTY study will continue with the New Testament Survey on Tuesday, September 15th at 6 PM in fellowship hall.

The study will begin with the end of the Old Testament and an examination of the 430-year intertestamental period before entering into the New Testament era. Whether you attended the Old Testament survey or not, this study will enhance your understanding of Scripture. We will examine the New Testament historical setting as it weaves through major theological themes while moving through the EMPTY acronym of Expectations, Messiah, Pentecost, Teaching, Yet-to-Come.
